This year’s Canyon Road Passport to the Arts takes place on May 9th, 10th and 11th. It is a very special public art event happening over Mother’s Day weekend. That’s a little hint, just in case you haven’t planned anything with mom yet. What better way to spend the day or even the whole weekend than attending openings, exhibitions and/or receptions with our diverse artist community. That’s what I will be doing with my family, for sure.
Santa Fe’s historic Canyon Road galleries will have more than 100 artists participating over the course of the weekend. We invite you to view this video from last year’s event. In addition, there will be live music, trunk shows and various activities for children. This is a perfect event for the whole family!
Here’s a link to the Friday and Saturday silent auction participants. Bidding ends at 4pm on Saturday, May 10th and many galleries will be accepting online bids. We highly recommend taking a peek before you arrive so you don’t miss that one piece that is a “must have”.
On Saturday there is also the famous “Artist Quick Draw” event from 11am – 1pm. In just over two short hours, you can experience more than 70 artists creating an original work of art from beginning to end. Then, you must attend the Passport to the Arts tent event to participate in the auction at 5pm to bid on your favorite piece. There will also be music from 1-2:30pm and a cocktail reception at 4pm. Online registration is recommended.
Also, on Sunday, the galleries, boutiques and shops will be opening at 11am for that last one-on-one experience with the artist. This is truly a memorable experience to take home with you, whether you are visiting Santa Fe or are like us and lucky enough to live here.
Safe travels, Deb Swanson
