January in Santa Fe

Travelers often ask “why go to Santa Fe in January?” It’s a natural question given the robust series of activities Santa Fe’s summer season has to offer. Though it is the slow season and there might not be as many visitors downtown, there is certainly an array of unique and rewarding experiences to be had; it also means that the prices are just right at Inn of the Governors and you will have easier access to the amazing events happening this upcoming weekend.

Are you a craft beer enthusiast? Do you search out local brews when you are visiting a new city? Join 15 New Mexico craft breweries serving up their fine ale for the 3rd Annual Brew Festival at the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market pavilion this Friday, January 24. Aside from enjoying all the rich beers the local breweries have to offer, take in their respective chefs’ servings of rich comfort food. We know we said that you won’t have to compete to see these events, but its beer and comfort food and the locals know a good thing when they see it. So if this sounds like bliss for you, please buy your tickets early because the last two events were sold out. Doors open at 4pm and the event will continue until 9pm. Enjoy!

If beer isn’t your thing, or if you are wishing to balance beer and comfort food with Santa Fe’s culture and traditions, we understand. That’s what Santa Fe is known for. Tatiana Lomaheftewa-Singer, Curator of Collections of the Museum of Contemporary Native Art and Alex Pena have co-curated a show of Fine-Art Prints from the MoCNA Collection; a perfect way to experience our fine city’s heritage. The opening reception is 5pm-7pm this Friday. If you can’t make the opening reception visit the museum Monday and Wednesday – Saturday from 10am-5pm and Sunday from 12pm-5pm. We shared photos of Alex’s mixed media on our Facebook page after we visited with him at the SWAIA Winter Market. We encourage you to stop by and experience his work.

These are just two examples of the great things happening this week. We encourage you to see what else might peak your interest. Please remember to like us on Facebook as we post daily about the things we love in the “City Different.”
