50th Anniversary and Kitchen Angels

We are very excited that our 50th anniversary package begins on January 3, 2015. We have been honored to welcome travelers to Santa Fe since 1965 and the city of Santa Fe was recently named “The Best Small City to Visit in America” by CNTraveler readers. We have created the perfect package for you to visit the Inn of the Governors and Santa Fe.

Stay with us for four evenings beginning on January 3 – March 31, 2015 (blackout dates do apply) and the 4th evening (which is just $50 plus tax) will be donated to our local non-profit, Kitchen Angels. Rates include our daily $15 Del Charro food and beverage credit, our Mountain Sunrise Breakfast Buffet, Tea and Sherry hour at 4pm and free parking.

Kitchen Angels is dedicated to providing free, nutritious meals to our home bound neighbors facing life-challenging conditions. Their mission is accomplished through the generous efforts of 348 volunteers each week who donate 29,000 hours of service annually. Volunteers are the heart of this organization and contribute in numerous ways: in the kitchen, delivering meals, at events, administrative support and so much more. For kitchen and delivery crews, each volunteer commits to serve one shift, one day a week. Founded in 1992, they have only 4 paid staff members and have delivered over 834,150 meals.

The impact on the lives of their homebound clients is hard to put into words. But while providing consistent, healthy and appetizing meals is their chief aim, they also do the following: improve their clients’ quality of life by ensuring that fragile, homebound individuals have a daily opportunity to interact with a concerned person; provide nutritional consultation to clients with extreme dietary requirements through the services of a certified nutritionist/registered dietitian; support clients to stay out of institutional care settings such as nursing homes and remain in the comfort and security of their own homes; and increase their collaboration with other agencies dedicated to ending hunger in New Mexico.

We are so pleased to be making our own donation, along with yours, to support such a worthy organization. We hope to see you this first quarter of 2015 and encourage you to visit our Facebook 50th Anniversary contest, too. Share your memory or photo of the Inn and we will enter you into a monthly drawing for a night in a Superior room with a wood-burning fireplace. We look forward to you sharing your memories of a past visit and maybe, just maybe, you will create some new memories this year. Safe travels, Deb Swanson
