This weekend we celebrate the first day of Summer. Whether you are a local or a traveler visiting our beautiful city of Santa Fe, the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market and the Shops at the Pavilion are a wonderful way to spend a Tuesday or Saturday during this abundant season. There truly is a feeling of being part of our community as you stroll through the aisles of the pavilion, wander its grounds adjacent to the Santa Fe Railyard and take in the local music scene.
On either of these days you can find fresh baked breads, locally grown organic vegetables, natural honey products and even artisan goat cheese. Selections are available from over 100 vendors so there is plenty to choose from and it’s very easy to find something for everyone. If you’re visiting, you can put together a picnic lunch from the Farmer’s Market Café or bring some treats back to your hotel room for later that evening. Maybe you would like some fresh cut flowers to brighten up your day; some spicy chile to create that Santa Fe flavor in your very own kitchen; how about a hand crafted sage decoration or chile wreath to always remember your time spent in Santa Fe? Whatever you choose, you will be reminded of this special time over and over again.
Once you have made your way through the Market, you’re ready to peruse the Shops. All six shops are contained in one open space north of the Market. Start with the Farmer’s Market Gift Shop and find local and global treasures; slip into Artful Tea (I recommend the rooibos blends) and now a location directly behind the Inn; stop by the café and have an espresso to get you through your day; taste the chocolate delicacy created by the ChocolateSmith, and last but certainly not least….. partake in the wine tasting at Vivac Winery’s tasting room. Now, I’m partial to Vivac Winery. I love the story…. Local Dixon boys grow up in the mountains of Northern New Mexico; wander off to college; return home; marry amazing women; begin their family and create a wonderful winery! Spend $5.00 and receive four tastings on-site… Now that’s a deal you can’t miss out on.
The Market is open Tuesdays and Saturdays, 7am-1pm, May through November, and Saturdays only, 8am-1pm, December through April. We hope that you enjoy the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market and Shops as much as we do and remember, there is parking near the Market if you prefer not to walk the .76 miles. Also, after the market is open, visit the Railyard Arts District and enjoy galleries, restaurants and shops. It actually might end up being a full day adventure for you.
Safe travels, Deb Swanson
