A Time for Family and Friends in Santa Fe

Thanksgiving is upon us and for many that means quality time with friends and loved ones. It is a time to pause and reflect on the many things that we are most grateful for. Here at the Inn, we are thankful for our guests (both local and from afar), our wonderful employees, and for being in this special place, Santa Fe. Whether your traditions call for tamales or turkey, this is the time to enjoy either. In the spirit of tradition, Del Charro, our in-house saloon and restaurant, is offering a three course Turkey dinner including soup or salad, the traditional fixings and of course, a scrumptious dessert for just $19. We begin serving at 12pm and reservations are not required. Whether you are one that wakes at the crack of dawn for Black Friday or the person that sleeps in until Noon because you have the day off, we want to share one of the favorite things for our staff to do to kick off the Christmas season. On Friday, November 29, 2013 the “city different” hosts the Holiday Tree Lighting on the famous Santa Fe Plaza. Festivities begin around 4pm as a vintage fire truck parades Santa and Mrs. Claus around the plaza. Around 6pm (when it’s dark) participate with caroling, viewing the luminarias and waiting, oh so patiently, for the plaza to burst into full, brilliant display with thousands of lights and Christmas decorations. It truly is a very unique sight and one we cannot recommend strongly enough for those creating their first memories or those celebrating their 50th holiday here. What better way to end the week than by attending the 8th Annual SWAIA Winter Indian Market on November 30 and December 1, 2013 at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center. The market opens from 9am-5pm and tickets are $10 per day, $15 for the weekend and best of all, children are free admission. The list of artists that are showcasing their work is long and impressive. A smaller, more manageable version of its summer cousin event, this is the market that Santa Fe locals flock to every year. In addition to the artists, there are performances, demonstrations and film screenings. Click the link above to see all the special events and times. From the Inn of the Governors family to yours, we wish you a safe and peaceful Thanksgiving.
